This morning’s announcement by Portage Councilmember Margaret O’Brien that she will seek election to the 61st district of the Michigan State House comes as no surprise. The Republican Party, their Wall Street backers and Mrs. O’Brien have consistently engaged in wedge politics, capsizing real debate on important issues, and unfortunately we expect this trend to continue in 2010. The KCDP and local Democratic candidates understand that the nonsense politics of the Republican Party and Mrs. O’Brien aim only the degenerate the debate to divisive issues such as abortion and guns.
