KCDP Special Podcast #2 - Convention 08 with Mark Miller

Podcast Audio KCDP Special Podcast #1 - Convention 08 with Mark Miller and host Martin Burch

Mark Miller reports from the convention in Denver the day of the acceptance speech by Barack Obama.

Obama's acceptance speech

OK.

So now can we not hear, ever again, that "Hope" and "Change" are vacuous words, with no content except what the listener chooses to impart to them?

This was a clarion call for progressive values, and thence to progressive policies.

Can we not hear, ever again, that because Obama wants to reach out to Republicans to accomplish things, that he is being naive, or compromising?

How do you top last night?

I had hoped to have written a whole lot more by this point, but sadly, there just is not time. Most of the day is programmed, and travel on buses through snarled downtown Denver traffic takes time that could be used more productively. When I get home (which won't be until Tuesday -  I'm taking a few days backpacking in the mountains to decompress) I'll try to write up more, at least that which won't sound too dated by then.

Michigan delegation Tuesday breakfast - jobs and energy

The theme at today's Michigan delegation breakfast was economic development and renewable energy - two topics closely linked in the plans of the Granholm Administration.

Impressions of Monday

Impressions, because that is all I am going to have time for. I'm writing this at 5:30 local, having woken after an absolutely packed day which ended at 1 am. Don't know how long I can keep that up! I have tons of pictures/video/audio, but don't know if I'll have time to deal with uploading it all.

Anyhow enough whining, here are some impressions:

Putting the 'Party' in the Democratic Party

Leaving in the morning...

...so here I sit, configuring my brand new Dell laptop instead of going to sleep.

I will be driving to Denver, and picking up a guy from SE Wisconsin to ride along. He's coming down by METRA train, and meeting me at the Tinley Park (S Chi suburbs) station. He's been a Democratic activist for a long time, and previous county party chair, so it should be good conversation.

I've somehow gotten roped into blogging here, at West Michigan Rising, at DemConWatch, and providing comment for the Gazette, WKZO, and Congressional Quarterly!
