Sean McCann, candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives, 60th District, introduced Gov. Jennifer Granholm during her visit to Kalamazoo on September 23. The governor spoke at a Radisson Hotel luncheon sponsored by Southwest Michigan First, and visited the Kalamazoo Gazette and local research firm Kalexsyn Inc. before stopping in to KCDP headquarters to speak to a full house about her successes and challenges -- not the least of which has been "dealing with the party of 'no'," in her efforts to bring Michigan's economy back into the black.

Governor Makes Surprise Appearance at Third Thursday Meeting

After an informational meeting with Marilyn Schlack and Ken Miller about the Arcadia Commons West Economic Development Plan and the proposed Event Center, a surprise guest dropped by the Nov. 19 meeting. Governor Granholm spent about 30 minutes with us to bring us up to date on the budget issues in the Legislature. She spoke hopefully about education and the Promise and law enforcement but realistically about the blocks for collecting even minor revenue. She gracefully spent time with anyone with a camera for pictures before heading back to Lansing.
