We are deeply saddened by this tragic news of the passing of State Representative Robert B. Jones, to us he will always be remembered as Mr. Mayor. Right now we would ask that the thoughts and prayers of our community be with the Jones family in this difficult time. Robert was a strong family man and good father and grandfather to his children and grandson. Kalamazoo has lost one its finest leaders and a great man.
On the heels of a decisive victory in the Democratic Primary, Representative Robert B. Jones is now locked into a battle against right-wing Republican Tonya Schuitmaker, who is so extreme she voted against equal pay for equal work legislation, and is anti-choice even in the case of rape and incest. Representative Jones is deeply grateful for all of the help and support he received during the Primary from so many of you, but now is not the time for complacency. The 20th District Senate seat is the most important state legislative race in Michigan.
