Blue Tigers Invite You To Day of Service
The Blue Tigers invite you to join them in the Day of Caring Kick-Off Event on Saturday, Sept. 19th, at 9am at Boy Scout Camp, Camp Roto-Kiwan (Texas Corners). Free lunch included! Join our brothers and sisters of organized labor in a huge - and fun! - service project. We will be doing 4 D.O.C. projects at this site on that day, from landscaping to cleaning out 2 huge pole barns that contain some items that date back to the 1940's.
Time Frame: 9am until all projects are complete. As these are outdoor projects we have slated the 26th as a potential "Rain Date" if necessary. Typically we have finished these events by 2pm, including a 1/2 to a full hour lunch break.
Activities (2 of the 4 chosen projects): We will be trimming bushes, raking leaves, edging sidewalks, weeding flower beds, spreading wood chips, preparing the landscape for the Fall and Winter seasons on the Hiking Trails, and Service Entrance areas.
The third chosen project: We will be also clearing & cleaning up the Lakeshore area; removing brush and tree limbs etc.
And, finally the 4th chosen project: We will also be organizing their Pole Barn. The Camp staff would like these 2 large Pole Barns cleaned out and re-organized. From what I am told there are items in these barns that date back to the 1940's; Camp Maintenance and supply items.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own gloves and yard hand tools (please put your name on your tools)...NO POWER TOOLS...if these are needed then Camp staff will get engaged with the group.
Lori Stanazek is the union volunteer coordinator for this project. Please let her know if you will be attending. stanaszek5@aol.com
