Obama's Inauguration Ball in Kalamazoo

KCDP to Celebrate Obama's Inauguration at the Historic State Theatre in Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo County Democratic Party will celebrate President-elect Barack Obama's Inauguration at the State Theatre in downtown Kalamazoo on Inauguration Day.  The KCDP is pleased to host the historic event at the historic State Theatre. Obama is the Nation's first African-American President-elect, and many expect his Inauguration to be attended by millions of supporters, with millions more viewing Inauguration Day festivities from afar.

The President-elect is a dynamic speaker who will give a historic address at the ceremony under the theme "Renewing America's Promise."  The National Inauguration festivities will also feature performances by Detroit-native Aretha Franklin – the Queen of Soul – and internationally acclaimed musician Yo-Yo Ma.

Here locally, we won't have the big name acts, but will offer a diverse group of the best musicians that southwest Michigan has to offer.

Doors will open at 11am, with live TV feed from Washington, DC - followed by music from 4pm-11pm.

Food, drinks and merchandise will be available.

Tickets are on sale and can be purchased for $10 each by contacting the State Theatre Box Office (Daily; 10a-6p) located at 404 S. Burdick St. in downtown Kalamazoo. Tickets purchased in person have no fee's attached, people wishing to avoid any fee's should purchase them directly at the box office which is open 10am to 6pm Monday thru Friday.
