Kzoo Dems on Road to Victory!
The unofficial candidate list is out and we are pleased to report that we have already won 6 seats on the County Commission for the next term.
Commissioners Jack Urban-1st, Carolyn Alford-2nd, Robert Barnard-3rd, John Taylor-4th, Brian Johnson-5th and our Democratic Nominee Mike Seals-6th have no opposition in November! Congratulations to all of them!
In the 7th District, Commission Chairman David Buskirk faces republican Kai Phillips in the November election. You may remember Kai from last year who ran for Kalamazoo City Commission and actively opposed the Anti-Discrimination Ordinance. Kai was quickly dispatched from the Commission race after a number of fliers pointing out his right-wing ideology were mailed to several thousand city voters. Look for Chairman Buskirk to crush Kai in November.
We have 5 exciting races that will be making a lot of headlines. The 9th, 10th, 12th, 15th and 16th District races feature some great Democratic candidates.
In the 10th we have a great Democrat running for re-election, Commissioner Mike Quinn. Mike faces republican Phil Stinchcomb in November.
In the 12th District, Scott McCormick faces republican Brandt Iden in November.
In the 9th and 15th we have 2 great Democratic challengers. Chuck Vliek in the 9th and former County Commissioner Leroy Crabtree in the 15th.
In the 16th, Tom Post runs for an open seat. Tom takes on John Gisler in November.
Our Democratic Candidates in the 11th, 13th and 17th Districts are Barb Hammon, Harvey Hanna and Jerry Rudolph, respectively. Please thank them for their dedicated service to the Democratic Party. It's people like these that make our Party strong!
In Richland Township, Deborah Robinson runs for re-election as Trustee. She is unopposed in November.
