Let's get ready

Friends, we are now officially in an election year. Every presidential election is historic and this one will be no different – we have a lot of work ahead of us to make it historic for the right reasons.
For starters, we need to get President Barack Obama re-elected. Michigan will be a critical battleground and we all must answer the call to help in this effort. It would be a terrible mistake on our part to assume that he will win without much effort on our part (remember 2010?). So, look at the next ten months in your calendar right now and plan what you make room for between now and November 6.
The bigger the victory we can deliver for the president, the longer his coattails will be to help all of us on the ballot in Kalamazoo County and throughout Michigan. We need to return Debbie Stabenow to the U.S. Senate, as well as re-elect our local Democratic county officials and regain the majority on the County Board of Commissioners. And will of course be needing your help to be re-elected to the state House.
Now is the time for us to put aside any other activities or distractions and come together to focus completely on this critical work. Please plan now to devote your time, talents and funds so that we can recreate that unforgettable victory celebration we had at the Radisson ballroom in 2008.
