November 2011 Third Thursday

Join us for our public meeting on Thursday, November 17th at 5:30pm as we hear from KCDP Executive Committee member Jon Hoadley. Jon will be speaking on "Money and Politics". Amongst other things, Jon will discuss the best use for dollars in the political arena.

Jon Hoadley, a native of South Dakota, is the owner of Badlands Strategies LLC, a progressive strategy firm focusing on coalition management, complex project management, fundraising, candidates and campaigns, organizational planning, and program development.  Preceding Badlands Strategies LLC, Hoadley worked on a major donor advising team.

Hoadley was also the campaign manager of One Kalamazoo, the successful local campaign to defend the sexual orientation and gender identity inclusive Kalamazoo Non-Discrimination Ordinance put before voters in November of 2009.  The One Kalamazoo campaign built a professional team with local leaders, worked extensively with people of faith, activated new and infrequent student voters, and prioritized organizing in communities of color. As a result, 62% of Kalamazoo voters said “Yes” to fairness and equality.

Prior to managing One Kalamazoo, Hoadley was Executive Director of National Stonewall Democrats, worked for the Gill Action Fund, and managed South Dakotans Against Discrimination, the campaign that opposed the anti-marriage amendment in South Dakota, winning over 48% of the vote.  A graduate of Michigan State University, Jon is currently based in Kalamazoo, MI.

The KCDP Executive Committee follows at 6:30pm.
