Can you believe Tonya Schuitmaker and her republican allies in the Secretary of State’s office?
In today's Gazette the state of Michigan’s Bureau of Elections said they are barring local clerks from mailing a letter to voters about the revote option in light of Robert Jones passing.
The Bureau of Elections is run by the Republican controlled Secretary of State – Terry Lynn Land.
It’s the Bureau of Elections job to give guidance on how to proceed in this situation but the spokesman said Michigan election law doesn’t speak to whether or not such a notice may be sent to voters. The republicans have taken this situation and are using it to their advantage and that’s WRONG!
We, as small 'd' democrats are upset to learn the local clerks won’t be allowed to send this important notice.
We believe a notice outlining the options to revote should be mailed to all absentee voters who want to have their vote count in this election.
Our candidate, Bobby Hopewell believes that these steps are essential to protect the integrity of the election.
His republican opponent – Tonya Schuitmaker said "Bobby wants me to tell the Secretary of State how to interpret election law. I believe the election should be run by the experts, not the candidates."
Really Tonya? Don’t you think that the local experts would know better then some bureaucrat in Lansing? That's what been wrong with Lansing for far too long. As a sitting state lawmaker, Tonya has done nothing to make things better for the hard working men, women and children of our state.
Are we going to put up with this non-sense? NO! As Democrats, we believe every vote counts. PERIOD! And if the Republicans and their Tea Party allies don't believe every vote counts, then we will do it for them. The KCDP is sending out forms to absentee voters to let them know their legal rights and help them request a new absentee ballot.
But we can't do it without your help.
