UPTON FOR SOME OF US!

Fred Upton, the Southwest Michigan Congressman with a reputation as a “Moderate” shows that he is just another partisan Republican. Fred Upton often claims he is "for all of us", yet he cast his vote against health insurance reform this year, proving once again that he is just a partisan Republican, marching lock-step with the Republican Party leadership whose policies brought this nation to the brink of financial collapse and economic Armageddon less than two years ago. Let’s examine that closer, the policies of Wall Street and their cronies like Fred Upton, took us to the near total collapse of the entire global economy and a financial meltdown which cost this nation including Upton’s own Congressional district – millions of jobs.

Since President Obama took office in January of 2009, Fred Upton has attempted to dim the hope and thwart the change his district voted overwhelming for in November of 2008 by opposing every major piece of President Obama’s legislation.

• Voted against the economic stimulus package which saved or created 2 million jobs - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
• Voted against pay equity for women in the workplace - Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
• Voted with the oil companies against climate change and energy jobs legislation - American Clean Energy and Security Act
• Voted against reasonable caps on executive pay and bonuses at bailed out Wall Street firms - Corporation and Financial Institution Compensation Fairness Act
• Voted against new regulations for Wall Street firms to prevent another financial meltdown - Wall Street Accountability and Consumer Protection Act

According to his voting record, it appears that Rep. Upton agrees with Rush Limbaugh that President Obama must fail so Republicans can win, even if that means the country fails. It’s crystal clear that Fred Upton stands to protect health insurance industry profits, and against his constituents who lack health insurance. As Fred continues to get the best health care in America, paid for with our tax dollars, after his NO vote on Health Care Reform, it’s time for Fred to give them up. We call on Fred give up his generous health care plan paid for by ALL OF US! We will remember in November!
