Walk for Warmth is a county-wide effort that provides emergency assistance to help pay energy bills for those in needs- seniors, people with disabilities, single parents, and the working poor. Walk for Warmth is a critical piece in assisting people when all other resources have been exhausted.
All funds raised are used to help those in need who have fallen on hard times and are struggling to keep their heat on during the winter months.
Those receiving assistance come from all walks of life. A family of 4 making under $42,400 a year is an example of who would get help. Many of those served actually make less than that. Last year, funds helped over 45 individuals and families in Kalamazoo County stay warm during the winter months.
Yes! Funds raised in a community are used to help residents of the community. Sponsors help either financially or provide in-kind services that helps off-set costs associated with putting on the Walk.
