Election
Hundreds of Democrats from across
southwestern Michigan's 6th Congressional District gathered in
Galien in Berrien County on Saturday morning (April 19) to elect
five (5) delegates and one (1) alternate as part of Michigan's
delegation to this year's Democratic National Convention in
Denver.
Following the results of Michigan's January 15 Presidential Primary Election, 6th District Democrats chose three (3) delegates and one (1) alternate pledged to Hillary Rodham Clinton (HRC) and two (2) delegates pledged to [formally] "uncommitted" (U).
Those elected are
* Nancy Crowell (HRC delegate), of Kalamazoo, a longtime Democratic Party activist and volunteer,
* Berrien County Commissioner Mamie Yarbrough (HRC delegate), of Benton Harbor,
* Marcus Robinson (HRC), of Benton Harbor, who has years of experience in working on Mrs. Clinton's Senatorial election campaigns in New York and the Jennifer Granholm election campaigns in Michigan, as well as being an active part of Granholm Administration's initiative in the Benton Harbor area,
* Cathy LaPointe (HRC alternate), of Little Fish Lake (Volinia Township), Cassopolis, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and very active in the Cass County Democratic Party (CCDP)--currently serving as its Second Vice Chair and is an active part of Democratic State Representative campaigns in Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph Counties,
* Mark Miller (U), of Kalamazoo, who teaches courses in astronomy at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, and chairs the Kalamazoo County Democrats' Candidate Recruitment Committee, and
* Berrien County Commissioner Marletta Seats (U), of Benton Harbor, who also co-chairs the Berrien County Democratic Party with Edie Minks, of Buchanan.
Mark Miller and Cathy LaPointe are among those who plan to "blog" from the Democratic National Convention
