Next Stop Michigan

Election
Important Information for all
Democrats!
The next stop in this year's exciting Presidential primary is the great state of Michigan. Unfortunately, maneuvers by both our state legislature and the Democratic National Committee have resulted in some of our leading Democratic candidates removing their names from our primary ballot.
CLINTON and KUCINICH supporters should vote for their candidate on January 15th.
We at the Kalamazoo County Democratic Party want you to know, if you support a presidential candidate that is not on our ballot, you CAN still vote to give them support at the National Convention – by voting UNCOMMITTED on January 15th. By voting Uncommitted, you are voting for delegates who will vote for candidates not on the ballot. Michigan Democrats can support Obama, Edwards, and Richardson by voting "Uncommitted".
You can still vote for your candidate by voting "Uncommitted".
DO NOT WRITE CANDIDATES IN. Write-in votes will NOT COUNT. Those voters that wish to support Obama, Edwards or Richardson need to vote UNCOMMITTED.
Again, CLINTON and KUCINICH supporters should vote for their candidate on January 15th.
More Important Information to take with you to the polls on January 15th.

*The following names will appear on the Democratic Ballot:

-Dennis Kucinich
-Chris Dodd
-Mike Gravel
-Uncommitted
-Write In
*Write-In votes will NOT be counted
*If you support:

*On Saturday, March 29, 2008 beginning at 10 A.M we will meet at the District Convention to elect Delegates to the National Convention in Denver.
*If "Uncommitted" receives at least 15% of the vote, we will meet at a District Convention to elect "Uncommitted" Delegates to the National Convention.

Primary/Caucus Situation
06/12/07 23:56 Filed in: 2008
Election
Important message from the Chair
On the Primary / Caucus situation
As of right now we are scheduled to have a Primary on Jan. 15th. The 4 candidates who withdrew their names from the Ballot will not be on the Ballot.
The effort in the State Legleslature to put their name back on the ballot was blocked by Senate Republicans.
Write-in candidates will not be counted.
You will have an oppurtunity to vote for "uncommitted". If uncommitted recieves at least 15% of the vote in the 6th District or State-wide, we will then meet at the 6th District Convention, this spring an elect "uncommitted" Delegates to the Convention in Denver.
If you support
*Joe Biden
*Bill Richardson
*Barack Obama
*John Edwards
You need to vote uncommitted on Januaray 15th.
Then be prepared to come to the 6th District Convention (Look for date, time, location notices soon), sometime this spring and vote for the "uncommitted" Delegate who supports your candidate.
I know its very complicated and confusing, but please remember this is about November 4th, 2008 and taking back the White House. The Democratic Nominee can not win the Electoral College without Michigan.
At this time, we also may hold a Caucus on Febuary 9th, but we may not.
Stay tuned and check our wesite www.kzoodems.com for any further updates.
